Experiencia negativa: I am from CDMX and own a home in Los Angeles, California so I am not a novice. The listings offered for rent were overpriced and the rhetoric used by a woman named Joan were laughable. She spoke as if her option was the last available when there are over 1,100 total residential property listings. I have also been warned about her so I will be moving on to Sotheby's or another reputable company.

Experiencia negativa: If there were any way to rate this business below 1 star I would. I rented a small apartment for the month of March. When I arrived, not only was it dirty, there was no direct light, there was no AC, the only fan in the room was inoperable, the "kitchenette" was totally dilapidated. The apartment is not just in the back of an outdoor bar, it shares a wall with the bar/restaurant as well. The "outdoor patio" was uncovered, dirty and also not as represented. In the entire space there was only a tiny rug in the middle of the main room, so dirty and old as to be ridiculous. I requested a refund and offered to pay for 5 nights (their cancellation timeframe on Airbnb) but was rejected. They kept every dime of my payment. To be totally transparent, I am 62, not 22. I was not in SMA to party, I was there to participate in culture, write and enjoy the vibe of the city. I think at least basics like paper towels or napkins, a clean space and accurate pictures is not too much to ask. This is a first for me. I have never filed a complaint against a vendor nor written a review of this kind.

She called Troy on Sunday morning and he was able to show her a rental that same afternoon. He was professional, helpful and kind. It appears that my friend's worries are now over. Thank you Troy, for your quick response.

Experiencia negativa: Do not use them. Joan has been terrible and has even called me names and made fun of my english. When. i told her that I went with someone else she said that I will be sorry. Will she come after me with a knife? Is she hard up? Or just not very good at business and impolite? Horrible person

After visiting with a few different local real estate folks we just weren't finding what we wanted and it was slow going. My wife contacted Joan and twenty four hours later toured some very viable properties and found our new SMA home! There's so much that is unfamiliar trying to rent/live for the first time in another country. San Miguel Rentables were professional, knowledgeable and really made an otherwise stressful process go smoothly. After sharing stories with other expats we're even more thankful for their expertise and guidance! And four months later we are even happier with our choice of a rental. And it's good to have someone like Joan on your side - we count her as a friend!

Experiencia fantástica: I m a retired American living in Mexico. After a year in Acapulco, I decided to exchange resort style living for a more cosmopolitan setting. I heard many good things about San Miguel de Allende. I googled rentals for San Miguel, and came upon San Miguel Rentables. The website was very well furnished, with detailed information, numerous photos and maps. I called and left a message with was promptly returned by Joan Novell. I had planned an impromptu visit for the next day. Although this was short notice, and the next day was New Year's Eve, Joan scheduled visits to properties that day and the next, also a holiday. She was very gracious and helpful about living in San Miguel. This is important to me, since I know no one in San Miguel (or in Mexico for that matter). I liked San Miguel and decided to rent one of the apartments for six months. When I returned to Acapulco, Joan had the owner of SMR, Troy Piccione, contact me with details about filling out an application, procuring a lease and making a deposit. Navigating the computer is not my forte (computers did not exist when I was younger - I used a typewriter in college). After numerous e-mails, texts and phone calls with Troy, he patiently led me through the process. Back in the United States I have in the passed leased and purchased properties and businesses, but there are not many times that I recall being treated so competently and professionally. I have not yet moved into my rental in San Miguel, but what impresses me is the treatment and guidance I received for just a six month rental. Kudos to SMR!

Experiencia negativa: Had to pay $1500 to get out of a lease where property was noisiest property in San Miguel. Do not rent or buy in Casa Primivera unless you want to be up all night. The place we rented had a used look with bare light bulbs and a useless roof terrace because of lack of furniture and lack of shade. Sheets from a flea market, one set only for each bed. What a horrible mistake on our part! It is two o’clock in the morning and still the noise goes on. We move out of this hell hole in a few days , it can’t be soon enough. They rent week ends to party kids who scream and holler and drink til they drop. It is totally ridiculous.
