Experiencia negativa: UPDATE – August 20, 2026: Home Tulum has now responded to this review, and I stand by my documented experience. Despite their response, I was asked to leave only two days into my six-month lease. I also experienced pressure to find alternative housing on my own while the written lease remained in effect. I have preserved contemporaneous documentation of these events and have submitted relevant evidence through the consumer complaint process. I also dispute Home Tulum's characterization of how the property was represented. The property has appeared across multiple rental platforms with differing information. I preserved the advertising and descriptions relevant to my rental and the representations on which I relied. Regarding the deposit, Home Tulum's response says it was handled under “early-termination provisions,” but during the handover I was presented with language characterizing my departure as voluntary. I refused to accept that characterization, crossed it out, and expressly reserved my rights before handing over the keys. This occurred after the documented issues involving essential services and the circumstances that ultimately led to the handover. My $18,500 MXN deposit remains disputed. Their response also does not address several significant parts of my review, including repeated requests for my keys, interruptions to essential services, two police interventions, or the request by a Home Tulum representative that I pay rent in cash following one of those interventions. I do not intend to litigate every piece of evidence in a Google review. I stand by my experience and the documentation I preserved. I look forward to PROFECO reviewing the documented evidence submitted with my consumer complaint, and I will update this review as that process develops. --- I rented a property through Home Tulum after finding it on Properstar, where it was advertised as offering a private pool, private access, and private spaces. Only two days into my six-month lease, I was asked to vacate the property even though the contract remained in effect. After I declined to surrender possession early, I experienced repeated requests to hand over the keys, interruptions to essential services included in the rental, and two police interventions related to the situation. Following one of those interventions, a Home Tulum representative asked me to pay my rent in cash. In my experience, Home Tulum's actions repeatedly interfered with my peaceful use of the property. During the handover, I refused to sign a document stating that I was leaving voluntarily, crossed out that statement, and expressly reserved my rights. Home Tulum has not returned my MXN $18,500 security deposit, and I dispute its retention. I have filed a consumer complaint with PROFECO and am currently awaiting the outcome of the conciliation process. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Home Tulum.
We respectfully disagree with several factual statements in this review.
The rental covered a private room and private interior spaces within a shared residence. The pool was private to the residence but shared among its occupants; exclusive use of the entire property was never included in the agreement.
The tenant was not asked to leave two days after arrival. After the property was later sold, a possible relocation was discussed, and Home Tulum ultimately arranged for the new owner to honor the remaining five months of the lease.
The deposit was handled under the signed agreement’s early-termination provisions.
For privacy reasons, we will not publish the contract or private communications here, but the complete documentation has been preserved
